Ceiling vs. Wall Mounting the Projector

The Benefits of the Boom
If you have a ceiling that contains asbestos, it can not be touched. The wall-mountable boom enables the projector to be installed without disturbing the ceiling.

If the ceiling height is higher than 14 feet, a boom installation is often more stable than a ceiling-mounting and, therefore, a better choice.

The boom arm is adjustable and that feature can become a major benefit when it is time to replace your projector. The throw (focal length) for your next projector could well have a different length. In that case, an adjustment of the arm length on the boom will usually enable your new projector to be installed with less trouble and less expense. With a ceiling mounted projector, updating your projector can often mean uninstalling the old projector and installing the new projector in a new location.

Conclusion
Ceiling-mounting is the most common method of mounting the projector in an ActivClassroom. But, there are certainly situations that make a boom-mounting more appropriate. After your site survey is complete, we will discuss with you which projector mounting method is best for your classrooms.

A ceiling-mounted projector is a more tidy installation. There is less hardware (the boom) that is seen hanging overhead. Expense-wise... the cost for the ceiling-mounted projector hardware and labor is included in the bundle price. The adjustable, wall-mountable boom requires a bundle upgrade, so the standard ceiling mounting for the projector costs less.
