ActiVoteWhole-group student assessment devices
Classroom participation is a huge (and sometimes complicated) part of the learning experience.
It takes courage to speak up, and nearly psychic abilities to know who understands the lesson. ActiVote offers teachers and students a clearer answer—a friendly Learner Response System that makes sure every voice counts. With A–F voting capability, a fun to hold shape and intuitive buttons, ActiVote makes 100% class participation fast, fun and easy. Students build confidence with every vote and can track their progress through both instant feedback and scores tallied over time. Teachers find that spontaneity enters the classroom with ActiVote—polling can be performed on the fly, debate can be started at the drop of a hat, and assessment guesswork ends. ActiVote can download student results into spreadsheets and lesson plans for clear achievement records over time, and no one worries whether they’ll be called on and called out in front of the class. BUILT FOR TODAY’S CLASSROOM
Student input was a key factor in creating the ActiVote devices. Ergonomically designed, the compact egg-shaped units fit comfortably and securely in a child’s hand. Their rugged construction includes a tamper-proof battery compartment, as well as a rubber-coated surface that minimizes slippage. A specially designed lockable case provides secure storage and easy transport for the 32 ActiVote units. ActiVotes use radio frequency signals to communicate with the ActivBoard. This technology is ideal for classroom use. Unlike infrared devices, ActiVotes do not need to be pointed at the board, so physical obstructions are not an issue. In addition, only one computer port is needed to simultaneously run the ActivBoard, ActiVotes and ActivSlate. Track student progress - Real timeFLEXIBLE BY DESIGN
With instant feedback results from ActiVote sessions, you can track student progress in several ways. Whether collecting responses anonymously in order to increase student participation, or by student name, results can be visualized:
Promethean’s ActiVote student response system helps teachers to encourage every child in to involve themselves in the lesson. ActiVote can help to generate discussion, gather opinions/answers from every child not just the one’s with their hand up and provides teachers and students instantaneous assessment of student understanding.
The ActiVote component takes your Promethean ActivClassroom to the next level by turning students into active participants while stimulating whole group feedback.
Benefits
No matter which curriculum subject you teach, the benefits gained from making your assessments truly interactive are considerable.
ActiVote Features Integrated Question Creation/Results ExportThe ActiVote component is completely integrated into our lesson development software, ActivStudio. Any question, with up to six possible answers A-F, can be presented to the group via ActivStudio and responses recorded, displayed and exported. Supplied with sample questions, the Question Master Wizard makes it easy for teachers to prepare their own questions and add images if required. Superior Radio Frequency CommunicationThe ActiVote keypads work via radio signal, eliminating the need to point the devices at the ActivBoard, like other systems that use infrared. Question Creation Softwareis incorporated into the ActivStudio software that comes with your Promethean ActivBoard, so there is no need to load extra software! An ActiVote 32-pack comes standard in our several of our ActivClassroom bundles and can, of course, be purchased separately as well.
Speaking of ActiVotes…
“The first day I used the ActiVotes with my students was the biggest eye opening day I have ever had in my teaching career. The ActivBoard can do so many things the other interactive whiteboards can’t.”
Gena Barnhardt AP Science Teacher
“It provides us with instant feedback, then we can make decisions about teaching based on the data the kids are producing for us.”
Polly Reikowski, Principal Eagan High School
“It's really a teaching tool, not just a technology tool. The students are very enthusiastic about them.”
Clark Berry, Principal Lake Wales Senior High School
“Students are digital natives and connect with digital technology. As a teacher you’re always looking for any kind of hook. This is the first time in my nine-year teaching career that I can know how each student is responding.”
T.J. Fletcher, Chemistry Teacher Eagan High School
